Our 50-Year Digital Memorial Commitment
Last updated: 06/18/2025
Technology will change. Our responsibility to preserve a life story should not.
Every EterQR memorial includes 50 years of full digital memorial access, management, editing, and standard features—with no annual fees.
1. Why 50 Years?
We chose a clear, measurable commitment instead of making a vague promise such as “forever.”
Fifty years allows memories to be shared across generations while giving EterQR a specific responsibility for which we can be held accountable.
The 50-year term begins on the date the digital memorial is first activated—not when the physical memorial is manufactured, purchased, or shipped.
2. What Is Included During the 50-Year Term?
For 50 years from activation, the memorial owner and authorized family members may access and manage the memorial page; edit and update personal details and the life story; add, organize, update, or remove supported photos, videos, and other memorial content; manage family access and privacy settings; review and manage visitor tributes; and use the complete set of standard features made available for the memorial.
These services are provided without annual subscription or hosting fees, subject to our Terms of Service and reasonable-use requirements.
3. How Can We Make a 50-Year Commitment?
We do not expect today’s websites, servers, file formats, or QR technology to remain unchanged for five decades.
Our commitment is to preserve continued access to the memorial and its core content—not to preserve one particular technology.
As technology evolves, EterQR may update or migrate its hosting providers, software, file formats, page design, security systems, or access methods. The appearance and operation of individual features may change, but throughout the 50-year term, the memorial will continue to include access, management, editing, updating, and full standard functionality.
4. What Happens After 50 Years?
The end of the 50-year full-service term does not mean that the memorial page will be automatically deleted.
After the initial 50 years, EterQR will continue to preserve access to the core memorial page so that family members and visitors can still view its principal memorial content.
Continued management, editing, new uploads, and interactive features after the 50-year term may depend on the technology and service options available at that time. Before making a planned change that materially affects these features, we will make reasonable efforts to contact the memorial administrator and explain the available continuation, renewal, or download options.
We also encourage every family to keep its own copies of irreplaceable photographs and original media. No online service should be the only place where important family memories are stored.
5. A Commitment to Continuity, Not Unchanging Technology
Fifty years from now, people may access digital information in ways that do not yet exist. Devices, file formats, and access technologies may all change.
For 50 years from activation, your EterQR memorial includes access, management, editing, updating, and full standard functionality with no annual fees. After the 50-year term, access to the core memorial page will continue.
One memorial. No annual fees. A clear commitment for generations.
This commitment applies to eligible memorial pages and content maintained in accordance with the EterQR Terms of Service. Accounts or content may be removed at the owner’s request or suspended when required by law, safety considerations, protection of third-party rights, or a serious violation of the Terms. Continued access after the 50-year full-service term is subject to EterQR’s continued operation of its digital memorial service.
